Fatherly Advice

Written by D. Grease

Fatt Father, originally from the world famous, Fatt Killahz, brings us an album with some counsel that is much needed on these streets today.  “Fatherly Advice” gives us a different look into fatherhood. And why wouldn’t it? It’s advice coming from the Father himself.

Fatt’s point of view is one similar to the many men out there who are from the hoods of America and become the leaders of their children’s lives. But don’t get it twisted; the album isn’t a soft one to listen to even though he has some pretty sensitive issues being touched upon. “Fatherly Advice” has hard tracks like ‘Muzik’ where he begins the album on the rapper side of things with a reminder hook of where he stands as far as continuing his life in Hip Hop. “I’mma do this shit until I’m dead and gone.” One of my favorite tracks has to be “The Ghetto” where the realness of what we see portrayed in news and media is rhymed about with the visual lyricism Fatt Father is able to illustrate along with sirens and news clips. “Slugs, whistling thugs, women and drugs. The television show nothing but us, diminishing us, or even in cuffs. Some see it as tough… enough!” Realness!

“Fatherly Advice” also has good music associated with the hardness in lyrics. Makes for a smooth listen to some of the real atrocities experienced by Fatt Father. “Memory Lane”, “My World” and “Ain’t No Mountain” (which is my favorite on the album) are three joints that bring you down to a softer place on the album. The balance needed for Fatt’s to demonstrate that he has grown into a man with priorities and a responsibility to his family as well as the streets and music.

There is no better advice for a father than that.
